The Pamoja (Together) ND Africa Initiative is a vibrant cross-disciplinary space for Notre Dame to deepen its engagement with the African continent through collaborative research, teaching, innovation, and policy outreach. Pamoja is distinctly bidirectional and seeks to foster mutually beneficial partnerships with institutions, researchers, and policy makers in Africa. Translated as “Together” in Kiswahili, Pamoja draws together diverse expertise, experiences, voices, and strengths across and between the Notre Dame community and the African continent. This Initiative is proudly supported by the Kellogg Institute for International Studies, the Pulte Institute for Global Development, and Notre Dame International.
In establishing this initiative, our team aims to achieve the following core objectives:
- Comprehensively map relevant resources, networks, and infrastructure on ND campus, within our immediate region, and on the African continent
- Build a vibrant Notre Dame-African community on campus through events and outreach, and amplify the voices of African faculty, staff, and students.
- Map and identify potential short- and long-term partnerships on the African continent
